Be Empowered By Aroma Therapy

Aromatherapy: The use of fragrant botanical oils for physical, psychological and spiritual well-being.

From as early as 4,500 before the common era, essential oils (powerful, concentrated organic compounds extracted steam-distilled or cold-pressed from plant flowers, fruit, resins, roots and bark) have been recognized for their natural healing powers that promote health and well-being. Powers over physical ailments and powers over emotional issues. Their fragrances soothe, heal, and invigorate the mind and body. Aromas act on the deepest parts of the brain and the central nervous system to enhance mood and emotions to relieve depression and anxiety and restore emotional wellness.

Their chemical constituents include antioxidants which encourage radiant health when used correctly. They have antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic properties. With hundreds of vitamins and other compounds, essential oils act as adaptogens which promote homeostasis. Essential oils are non-greasy and require only a few drops to have tremendous effects on emotional well-being, physical health or spiritual mindfulness. They easily penetrate deeply into the skin such that simple topical use with a carrier oil stimulates healing throughout the body as the compounds journey within. Using focused medicinal massage techniques, they stimulate the nervous system to release congestion and re-balance areas of the body affected by stress. With absorption into the bloodstream, these oils ease aches, pains, injuries while enhancing cellular renewal, blood circulation and effective detoxification for deep healing.

It is said that the sense of smell reaches the soul faster than any other sense. After all, scripture tells us that “Life” was breathed into Man. So it stands to reason that inhalation of “prana” leads to an enlivening of the “soul” … even enlightenment! Add to that an exquisite aroma and you gain a recipe for triggering emotional and even physical responses to help transform moods and move through different states of mind.

In the following video, Dr. Josh Axe and Jordan Rubin discuss essential oils nicely:

As you may have learned, many of these essential oils have powerful antibacterial and antiviral properties that surpass pharmaceutical variants in that they do not leave behind nor generate dangerous toxins for the body to deal with eventually. Essential oils are truly gifts to us through Nature.

Check out what Vanderbilt Hospital found when they began incorporating aromatherapy in their emergency room space:

But remember, it is important to use them correctly! There is a lot of unfounded as safe information floating around due to the success of two referral marketing companies whose associated distributors have been leading the way to knowledge about these Gd-given miracles. Unfortunately, their sole interest is to convince as many others as possible to peddle as many oils as possible … even while making claims as to their use that may be false. Always seek the help of a competent, certified authority when you need answers to important questions. As a general rule, though you will find some authorities knowledgeable in the use of essential plant oils internally, it is not the method of use recommended by aromatherapists. Not to say that one should never take an botanical oil internally. Just be sure to be in direct consultation with a responsible, competent authority.

It should be known that there is an effort at this very moment to help raise finishing funds to complete an independent aromatherapy documentary that seeks to deepen dialogues, dispel myths, empower engagement and encourage informed relationships with essential oils and their use in aromatherapy.
